CCSJ Love Stories | Al & Mary’s Tranquil City Home
After living in Fairmount, Mary and Al were ready for a home that offered a little more peace and privacy without giving up the convenience and energy of the city. They fell in love with their new home’s breathtaking views, abundance of natural light, and quiet cul-de-sac setting, a combination that made it feel like the perfect place to call home. With their modern, minimalist style and meaningful personal touches, Mary and Al have created a space that feels bright, peaceful, and uniquely theirs.
What made you decide that this house was “the one?”
The breathtaking view, the abundance of natural light from the many windows, the privacy of being an end-unit home, and its location on a quiet cul-de-sac made it feel like the perfect fit.
Why this neighborhood?
We chose this neighborhood because it is a newly built community that feels safe, quiet, and welcoming, with beautiful modern homes and a great overall atmosphere.
Where were you before?
Fairmount Neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
How did you meet?
As a theater and film artist, I always appreciate creativity and meaningful connections. My wife, Mary, and I were attending a performance at the Arden Theatre when we saw Ben’s picture and information on the back of the show program for Elfant Wissahickon. I reached out to Ben, and we quickly discovered that he is an artist as well. We immediately connected over our shared creative backgrounds, and from that moment, we knew we had found the perfect real estate agent. Ben’s professionalism, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm made the entire home-buying experience exceptional.
What’s your favorite room in the house?
Our favorite room is the living room because it's filled with natural light, offers beautiful views through the large windows, and is where we spend the most time relaxing, hosting family and friends, and enjoying each other's company.
Any favorite local spots you’ve discovered?
We've discovered so many wonderful local spots near our home, including Planet Fitness, Gorgas Park, the beautiful Wissahickon and Schuylkill River trails, and the charming shops and restaurants along Main Street in Manayunk. We love that our neighborhood offers the perfect balance of outdoor activities, community, and convenience while still being close to everything we need.
What’s one thing you can’t live without in your home?
Our coffee maker!
What have you done to make the house your own? Any plans?
We have made the house our own by adding personal touches throughout the space, including thoughtful decorations, Persian carpets, and elements that reflect our heritage and personal style.
What were your non-negotiables when searching for a home?
Our non-negotiables were a beautiful view, plenty of natural light, a safe and welcoming neighborhood, and a home with enough space to feel comfortable. We also wanted a location that offered a great balance of peaceful living while still being close to parks, trails, restaurants, and the energy of the city.
How would you describe your home style?
We would describe our style as minimalist and modern, with a focus on clean lines, simplicity, and creating a calm, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere. We love incorporating meaningful pieces, such as Persian carpets, that add warmth, character, and a personal touch to the space.
What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
Our favorite thing about where we live is the perfect balance between tranquility and convenience.
